White Sands National Monument Alamogordo New Mexico USA | #InfiniteWanderlust

White sand dunes of New Mexico is one of the world's most impressive natural wonders. Wave-like dunes of gypsum sand cover almost 300 square miles of the Tularosa Basin, just a few miles west of Alamogordo. About half of the white sands are within the boundaries of White Sands National Park.

There is a 16-mile circuit - The Dunes drive - around the White Sands dune field. The Dunes drive starts from the visitor center at the park entrance on US 70. You can find picnic areas and toilets towards the end of the drive. 

The park is located in the Northern Chihuahuan Desert, between the towns of Alamogordo and Las Cruces. The closest accommodation is in Alamogordo. There are only primitive camping sites in the dunes. 

White Sands National Monument is a place of stark natural beauty. Walking through the dunes is an unforgettable experience especially at sunset. Sledding down the dunes is another popular activity the visitors enjoy. 

The rolling bright white sand dunes have set the scene for various movies including Transformers. This is one of my favorite places I ever visited.

Pedernales Falls State Park Johnson Texas USA | #InfiniteWanderlust

P edernales Falls State Park is a classic Texas hill country attraction. This beautiful park is about 1 hour drive from Austin Texas. Any outdoor lover who enjoys being in nature will have fun in the park. The Pedernales River flows through the park and the main attraction here is the scenic Pedernales Falls. Unusual limestone rock formation along the Pedernales River is another distinct attraction. The falls are easily accessible from the parking area.  Activities like the swimming, tubing and fishing are allowed in the park in designated areas. Consult the trail map before getting into the water. Pay strict attention to -no swimming- signs. The park is open year round. The best time to visit would be the Spring. You can also enjoy hiking, biking and horseback riding in the rugged trails of the park. The park have several picnic areas and campsites including few primitive campsites. George Wallace Tunnel Mobile Alabama USA | #InfiniteWanderlust

G eorge Wallace Tunnel  is a marvel of engineering located in Mobile, Alabama in southern United States. This is an underwater tunnel along Interstate 10 that crosses from the Mobile city's downtown, goes beneath the Mobile River, and emerges on Blakeley Island. The depth of clearance is 40 ft for the ship channel over the tunnel.  The 2 tunnels were built in sections and floated to the proper positions, then sunk. Each section was sunk next to the previous section and joined underwater. When all sections were connected, and concrete set into place, they were pumped dry and finished out.  The tunnel is well lit and clean. The drive is fun. Don't hit the brakes unnecessarily. Maintain the speed. You will loose radio reception midway through the tunnel though.  This tunnel is named after former Alabama Governor and Presidential candidate George Wallace.
